I don’t know about you, but often times my environment dictates my productivity. When I try to power through work at home I find myself taking breaks to do laundry or grab a snack from the fridge, wander to bed and need a nap, or the dreaded “I can get this done while watching The Real Housewives.” And while I’ve looked into coworking spaces to get my blogging done none ever fit my needs. They felt too informal, had kitchens I could wander in to for beer and coffee and get distracted talking to someone, or were spaces that felt more like a hangout than a work environment. That is, until Co-Optim moved into the West Loop. Continue reading “Coworking Meets Luxury in the West Loop”
CYCLEBAR Fulton Market has been rocking rides for a little over a month now and the Cyclestars are bringing it. From high-intensity performance rides to killer themed rides to being able to clear your mind in a connect ride and all of the classic rides in between there are so many ways to hop on a bike.
But how do you decide what class is right for you? I’ve ridden every type of class so you don’t have to. Unless you want to, in which case YASSS QUEEN (OR KING) take one of each!
Ok, so it wasn’t my first time cycling, but it was my first time in years. And when I’d gone in the past it was at your run-of-the-mill gym that happened to offer cycling classes, not an actual cycling studio. So what happens when you take a girl who’s used to yoga and boxing and stick her on a state-of-the-art bike? Let’s just say my butt still hurts…
This past weekend I went on a tour of the dreamiest bed and breakfast I’ve ever been to. Okay, I know what you’re thinking and the answer is you’re right; I’ve never been to a B&B before, but I have to imagine this one is more heavenly than most.
I love having a nearby spot that I can rely on for a solid meal every time without breaking the bank, and that’s what I got when I found Cemitas Puebla.
Cemitas Puebla is a fast casual restaurant that specializes in cemita sandwiches. Cemitas, which get their name from the seed on the bun, are sandwiches originating in Puebla, Mexico (hence the name Cemitas Puebla. In addition to the sandwiches they serve tacos, quesadillas, chips, guacamole, salsa, rice, beans and more. Everything they make uses fresh ingredients to help create vibrant, authentic flavors that make you feel like you’re being transported to Puebla.
Brunch can make or break a weekend. When eaten after a long night out it can cure any pain you’re going through, when eaten after a workout it can revive you, and when eaten with bottomless bloody mary’s it can set the tone for Sunday Funday. But the best brunches have three things in common: great food, awesome atmosphere and killer drinks. Saint Lou’s Assembly has all three.
Last night while walking through Greektown, my boyfriend and I stumbled by The Parthenon. What was once a popular, crowded restaurant – and a favorite of my family’s – was dark. I’d always remembered them being open late, and it was only just approaching 10pm, so I was a bit confused.
We walked over to the main door to see if they had changed their hours, but were instead greeted by a piece of printer paper in the window that read,
“Dear Valuable Customer,
After over 48 years in business we are sad to inform you that we are permanently closed.
We want to thank you for your support over the years and for the wonderful memories!”
If La Sirena Clandestina is the sultry date night spot of the West Loop, then El Che Bar is its sexy younger sister. A new addition to the West Loop, it combines fabulous cocktails, mouth-watering food, and delicious desserts together in an atmosphere matched by few.
A new edition to the West Loop, El Che Bar opened on August 1, 2016. Despite being only about 3 weeks one when I had the opportunity to dine there, it already operated like a well-oiled machine—something many restaurants struggle with for months, and something many restaurants never seem to achieve.
Happy national soft serve day! As an ice cream aficionado I absolutely could not skip this holiday. In fact, I skipped my long run after work to go get some soft serve with my coworkers (Ok I just rearranged my long run to Sunday, but still. Priorities.).
Being as I’m fairly new to the West Loop neighborhood and have yet to scope out all the ice cream shops I had to do some research. And by research I mean Googling “Best soft serve West Loop Chicago” and seeing what came up. The first thing: Cone Gourmet Ice Cream.
